Lutheran Life Villages, a faith-based provider of retirement living services of Fort Wayne, Indiana, said Wednesday that it will merge its home care division with a company specializing in dementia care services.
The merger with Birchwood Inc. will further strengthen Lutheran Life Villages’ service offerings in Northeast Indiana, the company stated on its website.
“We are honored and extremely thankful to the Birchwood board of directors for entrusting Lutheran Life Villages to continue to expand the services offered at Birchwood,” stated Alex Keifer, president and CEO of Lutheran Life Villages. “Adult day services fills a gap between in-home services offered by our Homecare division and residential based services at our three campuses in Kendallville and Fort Wayne.”
As a result of the merger, The Village at Birchwood will operate together with Lutheran Life Villages Home Care to expand community-based services offered in Northeast Indiana and will look to fill in the care gap between adult day services and home care.

The terms of the transaction were not disclosed other than the merger is slated for completion June 1, 2014.
