Advocates of home health-care argue that Medicaid cuts proposed by Gov. Pat Quinn would have a devastating impact on thousands of people in Illinois according to the Peoria Journal Star.
The groups argue that a change in the state’s income tax structure could raise money needed to offset the costs.
“I believe the rich should pay their fair share,” said Connie Brown, 44, of Peoria Heights who acts as her mother’s personal assistant. The way to do that, she said, is to change the state’s income tax system from a flat rate to one that is indicative of a person’s income.
