Swope Community Enterprises, which operates several Kansas City, Mo.-area Swope Health Services clinics, recently acquired home health care agency Kansas City Home Care, Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition allows SCE to expand its service offerings and enter a growing market for home health care.
Kansas City Home Care’s founder, Cheryl Smith, will continue to serve as the private-duty home care company’s president and CEO.
“We are ecstatic to have Cheryl Smith and her team joining the Swope family,” said E. Frank Ellis, CEO of Swope Community Enterprises, in a statement. “Cheryl is a leader in the private-duty home care arena, and she has been a trailblazer in this field for the last two decades.”
The licensed private-pay home care agency, based in Overland Park, Mo., provides memory care, end-of-life care, personal care, nursing home and assisted living companion services, geriatric care management and service coordination, and short-term recovery services, among other services. It currently operates in a few different Missouri counties; Smith says the agency isn’t expected to undergo any major changes in operation following the acquisition.
“Joining SCE is a great strategic move for my organization. With the ever-changing health care environment it is important to
have the proper partnerships,” Cheryl Smith, CEO of Kansas City Home Care stated. “Both companies share the same philosophy and I am looking forward to the development and implementation of the Medical Home Model.”
With the agency’s acquisition, Swope Community Enterprises can now provide health services for people in all states of life, from birth to senior citizens.
