Allina Health To Acquire ConnectCare

Minnesota’s Allina Health announced earlier this month its acquisition of non-profit home health company ConnectCare, in an effort to help expand ConnectCare’s resources and ensure the company’s longevity.

ConnectCare previously operated as a collaboration between Minnesota’s Hutchinson Area Health Care and Glencoe Regional Health Services, providing home and hospice care to both communities through its 37 employees.

Allina plans on integrating ConnectCare into its Home & Community Services division of the company. The division already serves 28 counties and uses an electronic medical record system, Excellian, to store patient data.

ConnectCare hopes collaborating with Allina will allow the company to increase its resources and continue their 15 year provision of home and hospice care.

“As the business of home care and hospice has become more specialized, regulated and complicated, we felt the need to explore resources beyond Hutchinson Area Health Care and Glencoe Regional Health Services to assure these services would continue at a very high level in our communities,” said Steven Mulder, MD, president, Hutchinson Area Health Care.

The transaction is expected to be complete by Jan. 1, 2013.
