Expands Services Through Acquisition of Back-Up Care Specialist

Online care provider is broadening its reach, now adding back-up care services to its list of care resources. 

Through the acquisition of Brookline, Massachusetts-based Parents in a Pinch, announced Tuesday, the company is expanding its services for employers and individuals. 

Parents in a Pinch, which employs a team of 15, brings more than 60 corporate clients who use the service to provide back-up care for those who use home care providers including child care and adult care. 

“Through our existing business serving employers, we are acutely aware of the needs companies face in addressing the growing care challenges faced by their employees and their desire to do so via one provider who can offer a full scope of services,” said Sheila Lirio Marcelo, founder and CEO of “Back-up care is a critical component in that mix and with Parents in a Pinch, is now uniquely positioned to provide professional in-home back-up care assistance as an adjacency to our existing services.”

Parents in a Pinch will relocate to’s Waltham, Massachusetts offices and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
