ABC Undercover Home Health Fraud Investigation Wins National Award

Among ongoing reports of Medicare fraud in the home health business and in health care in general, an ABC News team went undercover to investigate the instance of fraud in home health care, airing in March 2012. 

The investigation, led by ABC Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross and investigative producer Megan Chuchmach, aired on ABC programs including “Nightline,” “Good Morning America” and “World News With Diane Sawyer.” It has now earned a 2013 Gracie award “Outstanding Investigative Program or Feature” and will be honored in May.

The annual Gracie awards recognize women in the media each year. 

The segment follows the grandmother of ABC’s producer Chuchmach through the process of a doctor’s visit and subsequent search for a home health aid to expose an alleged Medicare fraud operation in Texas.
