The Ensign Group (NASDAQ: ENSG) has expanded its services in Arizona and California through the acquisitions of two hospice companies this month.
Through the purchases of Mesa, Arizona-based Emblem Hospice and Pasadena, Calif.-based Vesper Hospice, the company is continuing to broaden its reach in hospice services across several states.
“We are pleased with the measured growth and development of our hospice operations thus far, and this lateral diversification broadens Ensign’s service offerings within the continuum of care,” said Christopher Christensen, Ensign’s president and CEO. “More importantly, these acquisitions reflect the increasing depth of our long-term commitment to the vibrant Southern California and greater Phoenix healthcare communities where our existing skilled nursing and assisted living operations have been successfully serving for many years.”
The two agencies will be operated under ensign’s Cornerstone Healthcare portfolio of companies. While full terms of the deals were not disclosed, the purchases were made with cash and bring Ensign’s portfolio to 108 healthcare facilities.
