Home Health Care Jobs Grow 7% in June 2013

The number of Americans employed in the home health care services sector continued to grow on a monthly and annual basis in June 2013 as the healthcare industry added nearly 20,000 jobs from the previous month, according to the latest jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

June logged 1,281,500 employees working in home health care services on a seasonally adjusted basis, an increase of nearly 7,000 from May 2013. That figure is up nearly 7.3% from the previous year. 

Healthcare added 19,800 jobs in June, with ambulatory healthcare services gaining almost 13,000 employees. Hospitals also gained 4,500 jobs in June after losing about 8,000 the previous month.

The nation’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.6%, or 11.8 million people.
