Val J. Halamandaris, president of the National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC), was recognized as one of 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2013.

The list, compiled by ModernHealthcare, is an annual ranking that “honors individuals in healthcare who are deemed by their by their peers and an expert panel to be the most influential individuals in the industry, in terms of leadership and impact.”

Inclusion in the 2013 list is just one of the awards Halamandaris has achieved for his leadership and advocacy efforts for the home care industry.

In May, the NAHC President was honored with the “Home Care Champion” award from the Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts (HCAM).

The award recognized Halamandaris an individual that has advanced the image or cause of home care in Massachusetts, as well as demonstrated industry leadership or has made outstanding contributions as an advocate for home care at a local, state-wide or national level.

“I was very pleased to be involved in ModernHealthcare‘s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare for 2013,” said Halamandaris in a statement to Home Health Care News. “I believe the selection appropriately honors the home care and hospice community even more than it celebrates my personal career and achievements. This is an inspirational group of individuals who will make a mark on the future of healthcare as they have on its past.”
