Ensign Expands Home Health Portfolio Through Idaho Acquisition

The Ensign Group (NASDAQ: ENSG) announced it is expanding its presence as a home health and hospice provider through the recent acquisition of Boise, Idaho-based Life’s Doors Hospice, Life’s Doors Home Health and Life’s Doors Home Care Solutions.

The companies will be operated by Cornerstone Healthcare Inc., Ensign’s home health and hospice operating company.

“We continue to see home health and hospice as an important service offering within the continuum of care, and our expansion in Boise fits neatly within our plan for strategic growth,” said Christopher Christensen, Ensign’s President and Chief Executive Officer in a press release. “We look forward to increasing our ability to serve the healthcare needs of Idahoans through our skilled nursing, assisted living and home health and hospice operations around the state.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though Engsign stated the purchase was made with cash.

The acquisition brings Ensign’s count of home health and hospice agencies to ten home health agencies and seven hospice companies across nine states. The company stated it continues to seek acquisition opportunities both among providers that are financially stable as well as those that may be under distress.
