Stanley Healthcare’s 11,000-plus long-term care network now has access to new product offerings previously on limited release through the senior care tech giant’s integration and distribution agreement with digital health solutions provider BAM Labs.
The first week of April marks Stanley Healthcare’s general release of two products the company says are revolutionary: the Patient Safety Monitor, which leverages BAM Labs’ non-invasive sensor pad technology, and the Bed-Check Cordless Fall Monitor System. Both are existing products that are now being offered to Stanley clients.
“The intent behind [our integration and distribution agreement with BAM Labs] was to begin with BAM’s existing solution, which has been developed and field-tested over several years and has a very satisfied existing customer base,” says Catherine Thomas, senior marketing manager at Stanley Healthcare. “[The products are] not something we ‘hope’ will work—it’s something that’s working right now.”
Designed to address health risks in long-term care, the patient safety monitor allows staff to proactively but unobtrusively monitor residents by tracking position changes, bed exit, sleep patterns, and vital sign trends through sensors placed under the mattress.
Thanks to a wireless transmitter, the cordless fall monitor—the newest component of Stanley’s fall management solution—eliminates trip hazards for both clinical staff and residents and can be located up to 30 feet away from its sensors, including outside the room if necessary.
While both products have already been on the market on a limited release, this widespread rollout marks Stanley Healthcare’s entry into proactive monitoring, says Mark Bisson, global solutions manager at Stanley, as previous solutions in the senior living space have primarily been reactive.
“There’s a lot of excitement in the air about this solution, and we’re excited about how we’re going to launch it and hopefully become more proactive when it comes to falls and fall management,” he says.
The initial response among Stanley clients has been “extremely favorable,” says Bisson. “People are starting to see where there is a need and demand for this application.”
Stanley Healthcare’s other senior living offerings include emergency call and wander management systems. The company’s products are present in more than 11,000 long-term care and senior living communities with hopes to capture greater market share through the partnership with BAM Labs.
“The agreement with BAM allows both companies to leverage core competencies and strengths in bringing a solution to the market,” Bisson says. “As we move forward, the relationship between the two companies will allow us to take advantage of that.”
