Federal Contractor Buys Texas Home Health Care Agency

Anchorage, Alaska-based federal contractor Chenega Corporation has purchased AQTS Home Health in San Antonio to expand into the commercial home health care market, the San Antonio Business Journal reports. The purchase price was not disclosed.

AQTS Home Health, part of the Access Quality family of companies, has 75 full-time employees in San Antonio that provide nursing, occupational therapy and physical therapy inside clients’ homes.

Chenega provides a range of professional services to government departments and agencies in 48 states, the District of Columbia, three U.S. territories and nine foreign countries. Its Environmental, Healthcare and Facilties division is already based in San Antonio, which made the acquisition a natural fit, said Ted Terrazas, senior vice president of Chenega Medical Services, in a written statement.

Terrazas will oversee the home health care agency’s operations, in addition to the company’s other San Antonio operations.

Melinda and Rob Rodriquez, the former owners of AQTS Home Health, said they decided to sell the company because they grew it as big as they could.

“We … came to the point where, to take it to the next level we either had to make significant investments in it, or sell it to an established corporation with ties to San Antonio,” they said.

Melinda Rodriquez will remain on board with the company as the director of marketing.
