Humana Names Former Home Health Exec as Regional President
Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) appointed Matt Berger as regional vice president for Humana’s Louisiana and Mississippi Medicare markets, effective March 18.
Berger has served in regional finance roles for Humana, including four years as its Medicare Central Division chief financial officer in Louisiana. Prior to joining Humana in 2012, he was director of corporate development with Amedisys (Nasdaq: AMED), where he managed mergers, acquisitions and strategy for home health, hospice, telemonitoring and primary care physician entities.
In his new role, Berger will report to Humana Medicare Central Division Senior Vice President Tim O’Rourke and will be based in Louisiana.
Home Health Care Management Names Interim CEO
Lynann DeCusatis has been named interim CEO of Home Health Care Management (HHCM). HHCM is a family of VNA companies in Pennsylvania, including Berks VNA, Pottstown VNA and Advantage Home Care. DeCusatis will manage day-to-day operations.
Constance Morrison was also promoted to president; DeCusatis will work in conjunction with Morrison.
Prior to being named interim CEO, she served as the director of quality improvement for HHCM and provided regulatory oversight of the three providers. She joined HHCM in 2000 as a speech therapist and was promoted to therapy team manager and medical records manager, which she served simultaneously for 10 years. She also advanced to the role of clinical manager of therapy for Berks VNA and Pottstown VNA.
Tom Lindquist Hired as CEO of Allina Health Aetna JV
Tom Lindquist has been named CEO of Allina Health and Aetna Insurance Company (Allina Health | Aetna), the jointly owned health care company announced by the organizations in January 2017.
Lindquist has a long history in the health care industry, including previously serving as president of home health care company AccentCare, based in Texas. There he led strategy and operations and was responsible for more than 10,000 employees in Medicare, personal care and hospice organizations.
More recently, he served as president of Molina’s South Carolina plan since 2013, where he was responsible for strategic planning, profit and loss management, contract negotiations and government relations.
Allina Health | Aetna combines the resources of Allina Health’s facilities and broad care network of affiliated doctors, nurses and other health care professionals with Aetna’s national health plan.
Nathan Adelson Hospice Hires Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Clevis T. Parker, Sr. has been named chief medical officer of the non-profit Nathan Adelson Hospice, the largest of its kind in southern Nevada.
In this role, Parker will oversee the overall effectiveness, leadership, strategic direction, structure and management of the medical components of hospice and palliative care at the organization. He will provide medical direction and support to members of the interdisciplinary team, and provide education to community physicians and others engaged in the care of terminally ill patients.
Prior to joining Nathan Adelson Hospice, Parker was the medical director of hospice, palliative care and home health at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Most recently, he was medical director at Hospice of Zuma in Arizona.
