Interim HealthCare Makes Additions to Executive Team

Interim HealthCare, a national home care, hospice and health care staffing franchise company, has expanded its executive leadership team.

David Waltzer has been named chief financial officer for Interim and its parent company, Caring Brands International.

Caring Brands, which also encompasses UK-based Bluebird Care and Australia-based Just Better Care brands, has more than 530 franchise locations in seven countries.

Sonya Hinds has been promoted to the role of chief administrative officer. She was previously the senior vice president of human resources, training, IT departments.

Prior to joining Interim, Waltzer held financial executive roles at Pinnacle Dental Management, ClearChoice Dental Centers, Fechforless.com, Navajo Manufacturing and Reliant Healthcare.

As chief administrative officer, Hinds will continue to oversee human resources, training and IT departments, along with recruiting and retention initiatives for owners of Interim HealthCare. Before joining Interim in 2014, she was previously with Randstad, where she held successive human resources positions since 1995. She was appointed vice president of human resources in 2011. She also served four years leading military troops in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Gulf War.

Compassus Names New Chief Financial Officer

Hospice care provider Compassus has named Brad Wear as the company’s new chief financial officer.

Wear, a certified public accountant with more than 20 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles in the health care industry, will be responsible for leading Compassus’ financial management to ensure stability and promote growth.

Prior to joining Compassus, Wear served as CFO for several health care companies, including US Anesthesia Partners; Carewise Health; I-trax/CHD Meridian (Walgreens); Qualifacts Systems; Breathe America/Digichart, Inc.; and The Gambro Group.

He also serves on the board of Shoot for the Future, a nonprofit that focuses on improving the lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries through educational scholarship and awareness.

VNAA Announces New Board Members

The Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA) has named several new board members:

LeadingAge Appoints Ruth Katz as Senior VP of Public Policy
 
LeadingAge, a senior care association focused on issues related to aging, has named Ruth Katz as its senior vice president of public policy.

In her new role at LeadingAge, Katz will developed and lead strategy on public policy and advocacy, working with organization’s board and state partners. She will also oversee congressional and regulatory affairs and grassroots engagement teams.

Katz is a longtime executive at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). She held dual roles at HHS’ office of the assistant secretary for planning and evaluation (OASPE) and the office of disability, aging and long-term care policy (ODALTCP). As associate deputy assistant secretary and the director, division of aging and disability, she led, directed and coordinated policy regarding OASPE/ODALTCP’s disability, aging, Medicare and long-term care policy agenda; managed staff; and oversaw policy research.
