Home care giant ComForCare has announced the creation of a new platform company to unify its brands. Going forward, Best Life Brands will encompass ComForCare, fellow home care franchise company At Your Side, senior placement organization CarePatrol and any future acquisitions.
Owned by New York-based private equity firm Riverside Company, ComForCare operates on a franchise model, with nearly 200 independently owned and operated locations in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. In Houston, Texas, it operates as At Your Side Home Care.
In 2018, ComForCare expanded its portfolio and service offerings by acquiring CarePatrol. The franchise organization offers senior placement services through more than 150 offices in 40 states. Additionally, ComForCare also partnered with Kindred at Home, the largest home health and hospice provider in the U.S.
The creation of Best Life Brands lays the groundwork for further growth, advancing ComForCare’s strategic plan to build relationships with providers throughout the health care spectrum, according to CEO Steve Greenbaum, who took the reins at ComeForCare and At Your Side Home Care last year. Greenbaum alluded to the formation of Best Life Brands during a November conversation with Home Health Care News on its Disrupt podcast.
“We’re looking at expanding our service offerings to support people across the continuum of care, with an emphasis on aging adults,” Greenbaum told HHCN in an email. “This could be anything from home health and hospice care to durable medical equipment, adult day centers, transportation and wellness.”
The goal for ComForCare is to give older adults holistic care that allows them to lead their best lives, which made naming the new portfolio company intuitive, Greenbaum said.
“Each company under the Best Life Brands platform will help people do just that: live their best life possible regardless of their circumstances,” he said.
In the year ahead, Best Life Brands plans to further develop its existing franchises, according to a press release announcing the deal. Another goal will be to add more locations for ComForCare, At Your Side and CarePatrol. The organization will likewise focus on acquiring new franchised brands — and potentially even some non-franchised brands — whose services align with ComForCare’s overarching mission.
The move to roll out a unified brand platform comes a little more than a month after ComForCare outlined its strategic plan to introduce a private-duty nursing line across its entire franchise system within the next three to five years.
