VNSNY Partners with Netsmart; CareAcademy and AlayaCare Team Up

Visiting Nurse Service of New York partners with Netsmart

Health information technology company Netsmart has partnered with the population health division of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY).

VNSNY is one of the largest not-for-profit home- and community-based health care organizations in the U.S., serving more than 44,000 patients a day.

Overland Park, Kansas-based Netsmart designs and builds electronic health records, health information exchanges, analytics tools and telehealth solutions. The company serves more than 600,000 users across more than 30,000 health care organizations.


As part of the deal, VNSNY’s population health division will utilize Netsmart CareManager, an electronic health record-agnostic solution, for data reporting, care coordination and analytics support.

“All of our population health activities take place within a value-based care framework, which requires a combination of effectiveness and efficiency,” Rose Madden-Baer, VNSNY senior vice president for population health and clinical support services, said in a press release. “We recognized that we needed to enhance our care management system and related applications to support our current and future value-based partnerships.”

On top of utilizing Netsmart CareManager for its own data needs, VNSNY plans to share and exchange data with other health care organizations through the Carequality interoperability framework.


CareAcademy integrates with AlayaCare

CareAcademy has entered a partnership and will integrate with home care software provider AlayaCare.

CareAcademy is a Boston-based training platform for home care professionals. The company provides video courses for topics such as nutrition, infection control, dementia and meal preparation.

AlayaCare is a software platform and secure cloud-based system that includes clinical documentation, client and family portals, remote patient monitoring, and mobile caregiver functionality.

Through the partnership, CareAcademy and AlayaCare aim to give home care providers access to tools that will positively impact outcomes.

“Home care is a growing segment along the continuum of care, and in the wake of the value-based care model, everyone is placing a larger emphasis on outcomes,” Helen Adeosun, CEO of CareAcademy, said in a press release announcing the move.

Mavencare launches digital communication tool

Home care technology company Mavencare has launched Mavencare Plus, a HIPAA-compliant digital communication tool.

Mavencare is a Toronto-based tech-driven personal home care company. Aside from Toronto, Mavencare operates in Boston and New York, plus a handful of other Massachusetts locations.

In addition to facilitating communication between Mavencare and payer partners, Mavencare Plus gives care managers access to real-time patient information, collects real-time data and utilizes predictive analytics to identify patient risk.

“Our goal is to create better health outcomes for patients while also providing our partners with the ability to be more efficient,” Nukul Bhasin, president and CTO of Mavencare, said in a recent press release. “We recognized that the current state of communication between the provider and payer is fragmented throughout the industry.”
