Best Life Brands names new CEO
Best Life Brands — a holding company that owns the franchised home care providers ComForCare and At Your Side — has hired a new CEO.
J.J. Sorrenti stepped into the role earlier this month and will oversee the strategic growth plans for all Best Life Brands. Those include ComForCare and At Your Side, as well as CarePatrol, a senior placement franchise, and Blue Moon Estate Sales, a real estate franchise.
Backed by New York-based private equity firm Riverside Company, ComForCare has more than 200 independently owned and operated locations in the U.S., with additional locations in Canada. In Houston, Texas, ComForCare operates as At Your Side.
Sorrenti plans to help grow those businesses, as well as the others, according to a press release announcing the news.
“My focus is on supporting our current franchise owners in growing their business and acquiring more brands whose services align with our overall mission,” Sorrenti said in the press release. “With the number of people aged 65 and older expected to reach 70 million by 2030, I am ready to partner with the Best Life Brands leadership team and our franchisees to help meet the needs of this rapidly aging population.”
Sorrenti brings years of franchise and retail experience to the job. He was most recently president of Safeguard Business Systems and has also held CEO positions at Hollywood Tans and Huntington Learning Centers.
Synergy HomeCare shakes up executive team
Synergy HomeCare has hired a new CEO and promoted its company founder to executive chairman.
Gilbert, Arizona-based Synergy is a home care franchisor with locations in 338 markets across the country.
Peter Tourian — who started the company back in 1999 — moved out of the CEO role earlier this month. His promotion to executive chairman cleared the way for Charlie Young, a franchise veteran with more than 18 years of experience who Synergy tapped to succeed Tourian.
Before becoming CEO of the home care company, Young served as president and CEO of Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Before that, he was president and CEO of ERA Franchise Systems.
“Synergy is a leading brand that is poised for explosive growth and I’m looking forward to enhancing our presence, working with Peter and the incredible team of franchisees,” Young said in a press release announcing the news.
The leadership changes come as Synergy’s business continues to boom. Since 2010, the franchise system has seen a 194% growth increase and was recently named the third fastest growing franchise in the home-based care industry by Franchise Times.
