Amedisys Names Chief Strategy Officer; WellSky Hires Chief Growth Officer to Drive Expansion

Amedisys names Nick Muscato as chief strategy officer

Amedisys Inc. (Nasdaq: AMED) announced this week the promotion of Nick Muscato to chief strategy officer.

Moscato most recently served as the senior vice president of finance with Amedisys and has been responsible for leading investor relations.

“[Nick] brings a wealth of expertise to the team and has been key to the creation and implementation of Amedisys’ strategy over the past seven years,” ​​Chris Gerard, president and CEO of Amedisys, said in a press release. “His innovative mind and unique ability to forecast the future of our industry will be invaluable to Amedisys’ upward trajectory.”

As a company, Amedisys delivers a number of offerings, including home health, hospice, personal care and high-acuity care services. The company’s footprint includes 549 care centers in 38 states and the District of Columbia, and they provide care for more than 445,000 patients every year.

WellSky names new chief growth officer

WellSky announced the hiring of a new chief growth officer in tandem with its plans to expand its headquarters in Kansas.

The Overland Park, Kansas-based company is a post-acute technology company that utilizes software and analytics to help providers across the continuum achieve better outcomes at lower costs.

The company announced Monday that Dale Zurbay will become the company’s new chief growth officer. Most recently, Zurbay worked as the senior vice president of sales for health care at Nuance Communications, an AI tech company.

“Dale is an exceptional leader with a demonstrated track record of achievement across diversified healthcare markets,” WellSky CEO Bill Miller said in a press release. “This addition to our team, paired with our upcoming world headquarters expansion, is validation of the tremendous work our teammates do every day and the increasing demand for our cutting-edge solutions.”

WellSky is also expanding its physical footprint in Overland Park and will lease four floors of a new 188,960-square-foot building across the street from their current headquarters.

Since WellSky made the move to Overland Park in 2019, the company has more than quadrupled its worker pool and has plans to hire an additional 1,000 employees over the next few years.

Modivcare appoints new president of mobility division

Modivcare Inc. (Nasdaq: MODV) named Ilias Simpson as the president of its new mobility division.

The Denver-based company offers technology-enabled health care services and provides non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) to 30 million individuals.

In January, the company announced the beginning of its Modivcare Home division, which includes its personal care, remote patient monitoring and nutritional meal delivery services.

“Ilias brings to Modivcare a track record of delivering operational excellence and profitable growth across multiple organizations,” ModivCare CEO Dan Greenleaf said in a press release. “His expertise in lean initiatives, customer service delivery and strategic growth planning will benefit Modivcare Mobility as we continue to drive operational improvements, strengthen relationships with our transportation providers, enhance the experience of patients and capture new sales wins.”

In March, Modivcare announced its Transportation Provider Advisory Council (TPAC) to gather feedback and perspective on how to better serve its patients.

The company believes the TPAC will help the company listen, learn and innovate within its transportation program.

HCR Home Care names new president

New York-based HCR Home Care has named Suzanne Turchetti as its new president.

HCR Home Care provides home health, palliative and personal care services to residents in the western part of New York.

As president, Turchetti will take the lead on all non-clinical administrative operations including human resources, contracts, corporate compliance and other duties for the company. Turchetti has been with HCR Home Care since 2005.

“Suzanne has risen through the ranks and excelled in every role she has held because of her vast knowledge of the company, her hard work, her unique skills and her ability to collaborate with company leadership and staff,” Louise Woerner, HCR Home Care’s founder and CEO, said in a press release. “Having worked side by side with Suzanne for nearly two decades, I know that she is supremely qualified to take on this new role and to help lead HCR into the future.”

Former Summit ElderCare VP joins myPlace Health

A former leader of Summit ElderCare is joining myPlace Health to focus more on the growing Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) model.

Dr. Robert Schreiber, former vice president and medical director of the PACE organization Summit ElderCare, announced he will be heading to myPlace Health as the vice president and national medical director of the care model strategy.

At the end of February, SCAN Health Plan and Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) announced that they were teaming up to help form a PACE organization dubbed myPlace Health. The venture, originally formed last September, will be run by its founder and CEO Robbie Pottharst.

SCAN Health Plan is a nonprofit Medicare Advantage plan that serves 270,000 members in California and the Boston-based CCA is a multi-state nonprofit integrated care system.

myPlace Health will initially serve seniors in the markets that both SCAN Health and CCA operate in.

VillageMD adds two leaders to board of directors

Two health care veterans are joining VillageMD’s board of directors.

Walgreens Boots Alliance (Stock: WBA) CEO Rosalind Brewer and health care entrepreneur David Brailer will join the board, the company announced earlier this month.

Brewer currently serves on several boards including those for Business Roundtable and WBA.

Brailer is the chairman of Health Evolution Partners (HEP) — a firm devoted to education of health care leaders — and currently serves on six other boards, including WBA.

“Roz and David each bring a unique perspective to the ways we can deliver a better experience for our physicians and patients and I’m excited to work with them as we continue the transformation of our nations’ healthcare system,” Tim Barry, CEO and chair of VillageMD said in a press release. “Our country needs the best and brightest solving our healthcare crisis and we have the opportunity to bring high-quality, accessible care to millions of Americans in their communities.”

Brewer joined WBA as CEO in March 2021. Prior to that, she was the COO of Starbucks and the CEO and the president of Sam’s Club from 2012 to 2017.

“VillageMD has pioneered a new, high-quality model of comprehensive primary care, bringing physicians and pharmacists together to address chronic conditions and improve overall health,” Brewer said in a statement. “Through its Village Medical services at clinics, at home and through virtual care, we can help solve the country’s health equity challenges.”

Brailer served as the nation’s first “Health Information Technology Czar” at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and currently serves as the executive chairman of Health Evolution.

Former CMO of Aetna Medicare joins Better Health

Robert Mirsky, the former chief medical officer for Aetna Medicare, has joined Better Health’s board of advisors.

Mirsky also served as the vice president of medical operations for Aetna.

Better Health is a national medical supply and care provider that offers end-to-end chronic condition care solutions.

“Finding the right products and knowing how to integrate them into everyday life has a profound impact on patients’ quality of life, health outcomes and cost of care,” Naama Stauber Breckler, Better Health’s co-founder and CEO, said in a press release. “Dr. Mirsky’s deep understanding of payers and the needs of underserved aging populations will enable us to expand our impact as we support people at home through access to medical supplies, peer coaching and product experts.”

In the press release, Mirsky said he’s excited to work with Better Health as the company expands its innovative care model to more categories and “improves outcomes for an even wider population.”
