Medicare Advantage was touted as a big opportunity for home care providers following CMS rule changes in 2018 - 2019. But there is a large gap between the providers that believe MA is an integral part of the future and those that believe taking on those cases is a detriment to their business. This panel will explore the near and long-term pros and cons of MA and home care.

Just as the senior population is growing in the U.S., the prevalence of dementia and related diseases is too. Over the course of the next decade, there will be more seniors with dementia in the country than ever before, by a significant margin. Home care providers will have to take on the task of caring for these patients.

The pandemic has accelerated far-reaching trends in post-acute care, particularly the shift to care at home.  As this shift intensifies, disjointed and disparate technology systems are no longer sufficient in supporting successful care in the home. Agencies, clients, and caregivers are demanding the technology they use be user-friendly, reduce administrative burden, and provide deeper analytical insights to whole person care. Join Hannah Luetke-Stahlman, the Vice President of Solutions Management for WellSky Personal Care, and Sheila Davis, Senior Vice-President of Area Operations for Always Best Care Senior Services, to hear how technology plays a pivotal role in the shift to care at home.

The adoption of various iterations of global payment, population health, and capitated reimbursement systems has had a dramatic impact on how health care is being delivered – and paid for – across the nation. With these developments, the value proposition of providing skilled and paraprofessional caregivers in the home to monitor and support patients to keep them healthy and ward off costly re-hospitalizations has become increasingly evident.  No surprise then, that, based on proprietary data collected and analyzed by The Braff Group, we began to see elevated deal activity in the space.  But a multitude of broad economic and sector specific factors have conspired to create new headwinds in the market.  In this session, we closely examine the investment landscape for home care providers – where it was, how it got to where it is today, and perhaps most importantly, where we expect it may be tomorrow.
