Amedisys Finalizes Acquisition of Home Staff

Amedisys, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMED) subsidiary Associated Home Care has closed its acquisition of personal care provider Home Staff, LLC.

Under the terms of the agreement, Associated Home Care acquired substantially all of the assets of Home Staff from Fallon Health and VNA Care Network, according to a press release.

Always Best Care Opens Location in New Mexico

Provider of in-home care Always Best Care has opened its first franchised location in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The location, owned by Darlene Wood, will providr services to the Albuquerque metro area and surrounding communities.

“Always Best Care’s reputation as an industry leader in providing senior care services has allowed our brand to expand to new states such as New Mexico,” Jake Brown, president of Always Best Care, said in a press release. “Darlene has opened our first location in the state and I can’t think of anyone better to take on this territory. Wood has a personal connection to in-home care as her brother was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2012. This is when she found her passion for helping others care for their families.

Alleon Healthcare Provides Funding for Home Care Agency

A Medicare-certified home health agency in Northeast Louisiana has received a $5 million medical receivables financing facility, according to a press release from Alleon.

The agency provides home health aides, occupational therapists, speech therapists and medical social workers to more than 2,400 patients recuperating in their homes.

“The financing that we now have with Alleon provides us the peace of mind and stability in our financial projections as well as the access for needed capital for things such as financing future growth, consolidating existing liabilities to more favorable and better structured terms, and possible future acquisitions of other competitors, etc.,” the company said in the press release. “With this financing in place, new doors of opportunities are opened and can be explored.”

The structure of the transaction was a revolving facility made up of receivables that are billed to government and commercial health insurance carriers.

“Alleon was happy to work with a company providing such important work in its community,” Ben Rutkevitz, vice president of business development at Alleon, said. “We are able to look past the tax liabilities, pay them off, and were confident that management was steering the company in the right direction with our medical receivables financing facility.”

24Hr HomeCare Partners with At Home With Care

Los Angeles-based 24Hr HomeCare has entered into a partnership with At Home With Care, an organization that helps families with caregiving resources in the South Bay area in California.

The owner of At Home With Care, Slavka Jasik, and co-founder of 24Hr HomeCare Ryan Iwamoto have a history dating back to 2004 when At Home With Care opened.

“I have had the opportunity to get to know Ryan over the course of a decade, and I have seen this organization’s commitment to quality of care for our seniors and the innovative programs he has introduced to our industry,” Jasik said in a press release. “We had other opportunities to partner with other organizations, but we feel the most comfortable working with Ryan and his team, because of our shared values.”

The partnership will allow 24Hr HomeCare to expand its team to meet the growing need for care.

“We are thrilled to welcome the many clients and staff of At Home With Care to our team and are excited that 100% of the clients and caregiving team have transitioned smoothly,” Michelle Haenel, general manager for the South Bay region of 24Hr, said in the press release.

In-Home Care Provider Opens First Franchise

Pennsylvania-based home care provider Sunny Days In-Home Care has announced it has sold its first franchise to a couple in Plainfield, Illinois, to expand its presence to the Midwest.

Bob and DeAnna Spoerl are bringing experience and leadership to Sunny Days. Bob worked in franchise marketing and public relations for the last 10 years and DeAnna will utilize her passion for helping others to lead the team at Sunny Days In-Home Care Chicago West.
