Mission Healthcare Appoints Next CEO, Home Health President; Right at Home Names New COO

Two executive leaders join Mission Healthcare

After the news that Paul VerHoeve would be stepping down as CEO, Mission Healthcare has named Phil Spencer as his replacement.

Backed by The Vistria Group, San Diego-based Mission Healthcare is a large, regional provider of home health, hospice and palliative care services in seven states.

Before joining Mission Healthcare, Spencer served as CEO of U.S. Behavioral Partners. He was the CEO of Springstone prior to that.

Spencer isn’t the only addition to Mission Healthcare’s leadership team. Charles McDonough also joined as the company’s president of home health care. He previously served as Interim HealthCare of the Upstate’s CEO.

VerHoeve will continue to be an investor and advisor to Mission Healthcare going forward.

Right at Home names new COO

Rod Roberts will take the helm as Right at Home’s new chief operating officer, the company announced earlier this month.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rod to Right at Home,” Margaret Haynes, president and CEO of Right at Home, said in a press statement. “He is a trusted leader with vast experience across the home care industry. What he brings in knowledge is equally matched by his drive and heart to continue to raise the bar for in-home care and help every client live successfully in their home.”

Right at Home is a home care franchise company with more than 650 locations in the U.S. and six other countries.

In his new role, Roberts will be leading operations in order to support international business and company-owned operations.

“I am enthusiastic about the future and this incredible opportunity to combine my experience and my aspiration to help make an even greater impact in the home care industry and in the lives we touch every day,” Roberts said in the statement. “We’re in the people business and it is our job to support our network of owners so they can deliver the best care.”

Prior to joining Right at Home, Roberts was vice president of franchise operations at Home Instead Senior Care.

Modivcare appoints new chief information officer

Modivcare Inc. (Nasdaq: MODV) has a new chief information officer — Jessica Kral.

“We continue to build a strong, experienced, diverse and talented executive leadership team and I am confident that the addition of Jessica Kral as our chief information officer will take our IT capabilities to the next level with her experience transforming large health care companies as they scale operations,” Modivcare President and CEO L. Heath Sampson said in a statement. “Jessica is a proven IT leader who has experience in strategy, innovation, architecture, engineering and data analytics.”

The Denver-based Modivcare offers technology-enabled health care services and provides non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT). The company’s Modivcare Home division includes its personal care, remote patient monitoring and nutritional meal delivery service offerings.

Kral brings 25 years of experience to her new CIO role. She previously served in multiple leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), both on the Optum and UnitedHealthcare side.

“I am excited to join Modivcare, as I believe that the Company’s supportive care platform focused on the social determinants of health helps eliminate inequities in health care for our 34 million members,” Kral said in the statement. “I am confident my healthcare IT leadership experience will help guide our journey as we scale operations and implement the right technologies to provide the best experience for our members and customers.”

Monogram Health hires new COO

Monogram Health has hired Casey McKeon as its chief operating officer.

Monogram Health is a value-based specialty provider of in-home nephrology, primary care and benefit management services for individuals with chronic kidney and end-stage renal disease.

“I have been impressed with Monogram’s rapid growth and noble mission since my first exposure to the company,” McKeon said in a press statement. “Their innovative model is truly transforming care delivery and improving quality of life for tens of thousands of Americans navigating multiple chronic diseases. I am proud to become part of the team and look forward to contributing to the company’s continued success.”

Previously, McKeon was the general manager of strategy and operations for Cigna’s (NYSE: CI) government business segment. Before that, he was president of CareAllies, a Cigna company.

Spiras Health hires chief financial officer

Ashley Thaxton White has been named CFO of Spiras Health.

Spiras Health is a value-based clinical provider that delivers home-based care to patients with complex and chronic needs.

“As the health care landscape shifts aggressively toward value-based models leveraging home-based care, those who can innovate and execute will drive demonstrable results,” Spiras Health CEO Scott A. Bowers said in a press release. “Ashley adds the necessary financial and analytics rigor, experience and leadership skills to deliver on our clinical model for serving the complex, chronically ill population.”

Prior to joining Spiras Health, White was vice president of population health at Lifepoint Health. She previously served in executive roles at Ernst & Young, Advisory Board, UnitedHealth Group and Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM).

Innovive Health makes additions to its clinical operations team

Innovive Health has made a number of appointments to its Colorado operation’s executive team, including an executive director, clinical director and a case manager.

The company is a data-driven in-home care provider that serves complex behavioral health patients. The Massachusetts-based Innovive Health set up shop in Colorado earlier this year.

Specifically, Daniel Politano has joined the company as executive director of Colorado operations, Leighann Stonefield as clinical director and Nina Britton as a case manager.

“We are pleased to expand our clinical team here in Colorado with home health care industry veterans who have a long track record of working with our unique patient population,” Innovive Health CEO Joseph McDonough said in a press release. “We have pulled these leaders and clinicians from across the country and across diverse backgrounds to address the unique behavioral health challenges that Colorado faces.”
