HHCN: What drew you to the home health & home care industry?
Wilson: I was drawn to the home health and hospice industry because of its mission to care for patients and positively impact the lives of both patients and their families.
Coming from a non-profit background, I was already familiar with the idea of a “calling” in one’s work, and I was struck to find that same sense of purpose deeply embedded in this field. It’s inspiring to work alongside clinicians and executives who share this commitment to compassionate care.
HHCN: What’s your biggest leadership lesson learned since starting to serve this industry?
Wilson: The biggest leadership lesson I’ve learned is that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
While my role requires me to focus on driving down costs and operating efficiently in a challenging regulatory environment, it’s equally important to communicate the “why” behind decisions. By working collaboratively, we can find the best solutions that serve both our employees and our patients.
HHCN: If you could change one thing with an eye toward the future of the home health & home care industry, what would it be?
Wilson: I’m excited about the industry’s shift toward caring for the whole patient, rather than just treating symptoms. Looking ahead, I’d like to see us further empower both patients and clinicians to take ownership of health, driving improvements in outcomes, not only in the short term, but throughout a patient’s life.
HHCN: In one word, how would you describe the future of home health & home care?
Wilson: Resilience.
HHCN: If you had a crystal ball, what do you think will impact the home health & home care industry now and into 2026?
Wilson: Rising costs and additional rate cuts will continue to challenge the industry, making efficiency, innovation, and creative problem-solving more important than ever. Organizations that can adapt while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care will be best positioned for success now and into 2026.
HHCN: In your opinion, what qualities must all Future Leaders possess?
Wilson: Future Leaders must be adaptable, inspiring, and deeply committed to their work.
HHCN: If you could give advice to yourself looking back to your first day in the home health & home care industry, what would it be and why?
Wilson: Don’t sweat the small stuff. In this industry, every year brings new and different challenges. Success comes from staying adaptable, focusing on what truly matters, and working collaboratively to solve problems as they arise.
